Cookie policy

This site uses as little browser storage as it can. There is no advertising, no retargeting and no cross-site tracking.

Strictly necessary

• Theme preference. If you use the light and dark toggle, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the site does not flash the wrong theme next time. It never leaves your device.
• Your cookie choice. Whether you have accepted or rejected analytics is saved in your browser’s local storage under the key swicklabs:analytics-consent, so the banner does not ask again on every visit. It never leaves your device.
• Security and availability. Cloudflare sits in front of this site and may set cookies to identify trusted traffic and mitigate attacks.

These do not require consent, because the site cannot work properly without them.

Analytics (only if you accept)

Analytics are off until you click “Accept” on the cookie banner. Until then your browser does not request the Google Analytics script at all: nothing is loaded from Google and no analytics cookie is set. If you click “Reject”, nothing is loaded either, and your choice is remembered.

If you accept, we load Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to see which pages are useful. Google then sets two cookies in your browser, _ga and _ga_2V6STPJXL1, which Google’s own documentation gives a default lifetime of two years. Your browser also sends data about your visits, including your IP address, to Google.

You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. Choosing “Reject” there stops further analytics and removes the _ga cookies from this site.

Controlling cookies

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies and clear local storage. Blocking the strictly necessary items may stop parts of the site working.
